Understanding RECA
What is RECA?
RECA (Radiation Exposure Compensation Act) provides one-time compensation to former uranium workers and others exposed to radiation during nuclear weapons development.
Under the 2025 expansion, most qualifying individuals receive:
- $100,000 lump sum compensation
- Survivors may file if the individual is deceased
- RECA recipients often qualify for EEOICPA medical benefits
